If you purchase a shipment with Packlink, your parcel will be shipped DDU (delivery duty unpaid) which means that the receiver will have to assume the cost of taxes and duties.
DDU stands for ‘Delivery Duty Unpaid’ and this is how packages are shipped via Packlink. DDP stands for ‘Delivery Duty Paid’, which is something not generally offered on Packlink.
Customs fees are always paid by the recipient. To receive the item, the recipient must pay all the taxes, duties and customs charges payable to the destination country of the shipment.
When you internationally ship an item, you must provide accurate contact details of the recipient so that customs authorities can get in contact with the receiver and arrange the payment of any customs duty owed and release the parcel for delivery. It is very important that you provide a local number and an accurate email address. Failure to do this can result in the parcel being returned to the sender.
In fact, customs will contact the recipient and set up how payment will be made, once paid the parcel is released for delivery.
You should always attach the customs forms outside the box so that customs authorities can easily check the value of the content and determine the duties owed. Please refer to our guide on how to complete correctly the customs form: Customs invoice document and how to complete it.
